Hi Doug
NICE BLOG — I just ordered my 4th Canon DSLR, 5d Mark III. Long experience tells me to get a good manual up front!!! I went to amazon.com, they have one manual, yours, and promise more in the future. Checking you out as an author I found your BLOG, quit impressive!!! I now have your markIII manual on my computer (I don’t put such books on my Kindle, the illustrations/images fair poorly — unfortunately, I don’t think many early Kindle adopters know how well such books work on the PC app.)
Thanks, I’ll be following your BLOG from now on! –Hunter-
Thank you for reading, and for your nice comments! Be sure to leave a review of the e-book on Amazon after you have made your way through it!
Yes, while the images hopefully shine on tablets and color e-readers, they don’t necessarily look great on the black and white Kindle, and that is why I always include a set on my Flickr page:

Great Blog – Glad I found it. I bought the Mark III Experience. Reading through it… Wish I could get a printed version to mark up… One other idea/suggestion – If you do a revision – have a section on your recommendations – just the recommendations.
I found myself liking and wanting to do many of them on the first read…. Now I have to go back through and find the recommendations again. I think that is why it is best said to just read it with the camera in front of you as you explore… I guess I jumped the gun a bit and bought the e-book well before receiving the camera. Anyway, just an idea. Thanks so much. LOVE the response to KR – Sometimes I wonder…

Thanks for the feedback! I will consider a better way of calling attention to the recommendations and making them easier to find when browsing. Also, I believe that with the most of the versions of the e-book, you can do highlighting on your computer or e-reader.
And, if you have the PDF version, feel free to take it to a copy shop and have them print it (double sided) and spiral bind it, so that you can have a print version!
Thanks for reading.

Just finished (the second read of) Canon 5D Mark III Experience. You are to be congratulated on one of the best written and formatted books on a camera. I’ve been purchasing Canon cameras and various books since The Canon A1(!). From my perspective, your layout, writing style and content is head and shoulders above them all. I like the Focus and Exposure sections where you wrap everything together after having introduced multiple settings along the way. I am sure that, thanks to your book, I am further up the curve on the 5D than I otherwise would have been. And, as a side note, the layout for the Kindle version, as viewed on an iPad, was perfect.
Congrats on a really nice job!

Enjoyed the book a lot – very very useful. When I bought the 5d mark III in May this was the first book I bought and read even before the manual (which I read also).
One thing that would have benefited me on my latest trip even though you yourself mention not using the feature. On a paragraph about Auto ISO minimum shutter speed setting there could have been a mention that Minimum shutter speed setting “Auto” takes into account the focal length and sets it appropriately – this would have saved a few shots with my longer lenses.
I could not find this bit of info easily on the 5d Mark III manual either.

Just read the Canon Mark III Experience e-book via my iPad and found that most of the links do not work. Is this a Kindle for iPad app compatibility issue? Didn’t see anyone commenting on this problem and wonder if you can advise. Many thanks.
